CNBC Article on Prefabricated Homes

Nice to see some additional mainstream press for prefab homes recently — this time from CNBC in an article entitled
Assembly is Required for These Kit Homes.

The introduction:

“Despite seemingly endless interest in decorating, landscaping, buying, staging and selling houses, actually building a house is a mysterious process that is mostly left to professionals. But for some homeowners, buying and in some cases assembling, a prefabricated home holds appeal.”

The article does a nice job with a high level overview of a few topics, such as what factors into the full price of a prefab home, as well as some history on the usage of these types of homes.

The article then dives into profiling specific prefab homes that are available on the market, provides some great pictures, and provides a breakdown of the ‘kit cost’, ‘turnkey price’, and size measurements for each home.

Included in the profiles are the following homes:

  • Caroline from Gastineau Log Homes
  • K1 by KitHAUS

There are also some great pictures featured on the CNBC site at the following link.

It’s an article worth checking out!
