Architect Takes Prefab Homes Into Her Own Hands

According to this article from the Ottawa Citizen, a female architect grew tired of not being able to find a home that met her and her builder husband’s expectations.

She decided to take matters into her own hands.

Kaufmann and her husband began to look for a new home.

They wanted one that was clean, uncluttered, affordable and energy efficient.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for her and their business) the couple decided to take matters into their own hands.

They purchased a lot and designed what would become the first of the MK line of homes.

It would later be dubbed the Glidehouse.

The prefab home uses minimal energy, water and materials.
